Nanofac is short for nanofactory, which is a proposed system in which nanomachines would combine molecules to build larger atomically precise parts. These, in turn, would be assembled by positioning machines to build macroscopic (visible) but still atomically-precise products.

If and when nanofacs are built, severe disruption to the world economy would be one of many possible negative impacts, as economics which had been based on scarcity would be transformed to an economy based on surplus. If everyone had a nanofac, great benefits would be anticipated.
